Job Description:
Riley, Pope and Laney is currently seeking a legal assistant to fill a full-time, on-site position in our Columbia, South Carolina office. The legal assistant will be responsible for a wide range of tasks to support the paralegals and attorneys. The ideal candidate will be a team player, detail oriented, organized, flexible, self-motivated and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position requires a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn client websites and Case Management Software.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Preparing pleadings
- Preparing Letters
- Processing filed complaints and service affidavits
- Updating client websites
- Communicating with clients and process servers
- Miscellaneous duties as needed
Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Paralegal certificate or experience in a law firm preferred
- Experience with foreclosure or real estate preferred

SC Admin Assistant
Job Description:
Riley, Pope and Laney is seeking an administrative assistant to fill a full-time, on-site position in our Columbia, SC office. The administrative assistant will be assisting on our referrals team. This position will be responsible for assisting with the file opening process, preparing letters, communicating in client systems and other duties as needed. The ideal candidate(s) will be a team player, detail oriented, organized, flexible, self-motivated, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and eager to develop their legal office skills. The position requires strong data entry skills, a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn client websites and Case Management Software.

SC Mailroom Part-time
Job Description:
Riley, Pope and Laney is seeking a Mailroom Assistant to fill a part-time on-site position in our Columbia, SC office. This position will be approximately 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm (we are willing to review candidates with availability outside of these hours, however, based on office needs, the candidate must be available during the hours of 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm). Our firm encourages students to apply; for someone interested in pursuing a legal career, this position is a good introduction to a law office. Some of our past mailroom assistants have been promoted to other positions in the firm and others have pursued law degrees. The ideal candidate will be a team player, detail-oriented, organized, flexible, self-motivated, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position requires a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Windows Operating System, and the ability to learn Case Management Software.
General Job Duties include, but not limited to:
- Prepare and send outgoing mail, including letters, packages, and parcels, ensuring accurate addressing and proper postage
- Saving all outgoing mail to digital filing system
- Maintain mailroom inventory, including stamps, envelopes, and other supplies, and restock as needed
- Operate various mailroom equipment, such as postage meter, printer, and copier with care and precision
- Enter dates and postage amounts into Case Management and Accounting Software
- Miscellaneous duties as needed
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows Operating System
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 25 lbs.
